Risk Analysis

Disease early detection and prevention services are a development priority the world over. Early identification of complications could result in effective treatment of the condition for the patient and in lower costs for the healthcare provider. In Healthcare@Home, we have conceived and demonstrated foundation ideas for a rigorous, clinically defensible approach to the quantification and assessment of risk at the level of an individual patient.

QUIRA (QUantitative Individualised Risk Analysis) comprises a risk analysis engine that performs various functions to identify patterns in the aggregate longitudinal data stream, alerting the care team to the possibility that pre-defined risk criteria thresholds are being crossed.

QUIRA is a continuing area of research for Cardiff University that we will report on more fully in the future.
